The Peterson Company uses a business model that allows them to be quite successful with a small staff of employees. They know that when your team is small, everyone needs to perform at their highest and best level, and good human resource management is critical.

Connexsource created a fully functional HR department that provides the right level of management services without the big company rigmarole. Then we helped them hire new staff, manage performance and discipline systems, and improve their work team communications. All this for 8 employees – 8 very valuable employees to the business.

ASSIGNMENT:  Provide Human Resource services that are strategic and scalable.

The Right Place is passionate about investing in the community, and is adamantly opposed to spending money on administration unnecessarily. They’re also smart enough to know that solid human resource practices and systems are required to attract today’s talented professionals, and realize that HR needs the focused, disciplined attention of a professional team.

So the Right Place uses Connexsource to staff positions, recommend compensation strategies, design employee communications, and advise on job structure and workflow organization. Connexsource provides high-level HR on an as needed basis, which allows The Right Place staff to concentrate on growing West Michigan’s business economy.

The Right Place 

ASSIGNMENT:  Create a clear picture of the education level for a region’s workforce.

The Higher Education Working Group of TALENT 2025 was seeking information about the employee education levels of the current workforce so they could create a baseline for their plan to increase college graduation rates. The group needed data from 52 major employers who were invested in upgrading the region’s labor pool. Understanding current Human Resource Information Systems and leveraging relationships was key to good data collection.

Connexsource designed and prepared a report that captured the available education data for these employers. The report also highlighted key incentives being used by leading employers in the region to encourage talent development. Now TALENT 2025 has a place to start on it’s journey to improve the education attainment of the regional talent pool.

TALENT 2025

ASSIGNMENT:  Temporarily fill a critical leadership role in HR and provide continuity of service.

Priority Health has earned a reputation as a leader in human resource practices and a preferred employer. So, when an important member of their human resource management team went on a leave of absence during a critical reorganization, Priority Health turned to Connexsource to fill the gap.

We provided interim leadership to the HR team during the executive’s absence. Drawing on previous experience organizing and leading HR departments, we allowed the staff to continue to meet the organization’s goals and expectations with confidence.

“The services provided by Connexsource were invaluable to the organization.  Connexsource not only provided stability to the team on a day-to-day basis, they also partnered with the organization to continue to implement a critical reorganization for the human resources department that required a mindset change for the team.  Connexsource introduced the term “Credible Activist” to the human resources team and described what each team member would need to do differently to bring greater value to their internal clients.  Connexsource introduced the idea that HR “credible activists” have to gain the trust of their internal clients by becoming actively involved in their business to better serve their needs.  That meant getting out of the HR office and interacting face-to-face with people.  It meant being actively involved in the business of the business and not just the business of HR.
